STRINGS FOR A CAUSE

About us

STORY BEHIND

Our story

Strings For A Cause began with a smile. When Roshan was about nine years old and still learning classical Western violin, he performed at a fundraising concert for Alzheimer’s disease. Looking out at the audience, he saw how much joy his music brought to the people in the room. That moment stayed with him and led to a simple question: what if young musicians used their talent to help others? In January 2025, Roshan started Strings For A Cause, and Amira joined from the very beginning. Our first performance was on July 26, 2025, at the South Florida Hindu Temple, for the Navjeevan seniors group.

Over the years, Roshan has immersed himself in Carnatic violin, the classical music tradition of South India, and has excelled in it. Together, we have practiced, performed, and served. We have played at festivals, temples, and community gatherings, and we are always looking for more ways to help, whether at a festive celebration, a quiet gathering of seniors, or a fundraising gala.

Who we are

Who we are

Our band is built around a brother and sister, Roshan and Amira, who both play the violin, performing primarily in the Carnatic style of South India. We are joined by two teen guest musicians: one who plays the veena, a plucked string instrument from India, and one who plays the tabla, a pair of traditional Indian hand drums. Together, these instruments add melody and rhythm to ourperformances. We are a small group with big hopes, and we welcome other young musicians under 25 who share our mission.

We love music from many cultures, and we see that as one of our greatest strengths. When young people make music from different traditions, they lear to listen, to respect one another’s heritage, and to create something that brings people together.

What guides us

Our three pillars

01

Charitable and social causes

At the heart of everything we do is the desire to help. Every performance supports a cause that matters, and we choose our causes thoughtfully. In 2026, we performed at Namaste to support Akshaya Patra, an organization that provides free midday meals to school children across India. On October 24, we will perform at the Arabian Nights Gala, which raises funds for children in pediatric oncology at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital at Broward Health Medical Center. Whether the need is hunger, illness, or loneliness, our music is a way for young people to say, “We see you, and we want to help.”

02

Community outreach

We believe young people grow through serving others. When a teenager performs for seniors, volunteers at a cultural festival, or helps organize a concert, they build confidence, teamwork, and compassion that last a lifetime. Our outreach brings youth directly into our activities and projects. Through collaborative performing arts, our musicians learn what it means to be part of something larger than themselves. Everyone in our group is under 25, so the people we serve are being served by their own neighbors, classmates, and friends.

03

Collaboration

No one makes a difference alone. We partner with like-minded organizations, including cultural groups, universities, and charities, so that every event we join reaches more people and does more good. Our collaborations include working with guest musicians on the tabla and veena and performing with Sunshine Vibes of Florida Fine Arts, where Roshan is the lead violinist, and we are always looking for new partners who share our values. If your organization is working for a good cause and would like live music at your event, we would love to talk.
