STRINGS FOR A CAUSE

Our Musicians

Behind every performance are young musicians who give their time to rehearse, learn new pieces, and show up for causes they believe in. They balance school, activities, and family, and they still find time to make music for others.

Musician

Roshan

Roshan is a high school student who began with classical Western violin and has since immersed himself in Carnatic violin, the classical music tradition of South India, and has excelled in it. He has been performing since 2019 and is also the lead violinist and musician in Sunshine Vibes, part of Florida Fine Arts. His favorite piece is Vatapi Ganapatim, a Sanskrit hymn to Lord Ganesha by Muthuswami Dikshitar (1775–1835), one of the three great composers of Carnatic music. It is one of the best-known and most loved compositions in the tradition.

Why Roshan plays.

Roshan has played music from a young age, and the violin in particular has become a true passion. He finds it deeply calming, and he believes music is a universal language that brings people of different backgrounds together and creates harmony. His interest in neuroscience has strengthened that belief: he has learned that music can soothe the mind and may help older adults living with conditions such as Parkinson’s disease. Roshan wants to use his gift to benefit others and improve their lives, one performance at a time.
